Celebtrities are catching up to what we at Ruby Shoo have always known... that the Mary Jane is Queen of shoes!

So it seems the world of fashion has just cottoned on to what we here at Ruby Shoo always knew... that the Mary Jane is the queen of shoes!  A quick google search of 'celebrities in Mary Janes' reveals all of stardom's great and good sporting our favourite bar shoes.  Articles like Mary Jane shoes - why you need to buy some Mary Janes asap (cosmopolitan.com) are springing up all over the fashion pages and we just wanted to say hey you've come to the right place!

With everyone from Dua Lipa to Alexa Chung rocking the strapped heels we can safely say that we were well ahead of the trend.  The Mary Jane has been a Ruby Shoo staple right from our first collection in 2011 when the pink soled Bardot made its way onto the shelves, and into the hearts of the what we now call 'Ruby Shoo lovers'.

Ruby Shoo have focussed on bringing a vintage-inspired range of shoes to today's woman.  To the lady who wants to feel pretty, to be asked 'oooh where did you get those shoes? but also wants to be able to walk, to dance and importantly to end the night wearing her shoes, not carrying them.  We have looked at every part of the shoe and designed it to provide stability with sensible width heels, whether Louis, cone or block, our heels are always designed for walking on... not just sitting down in!  We have made our soles flexible so they move with the foot and have added a five layer memory foam insole to every pair of heels.

Take Cosmopolitan's advice and choose 'Mary Janes with flared heels for a cool retro feel' with our failsafe Penny.  The bar shoe with a velcro fastening so that you can fit it exactly how you wish.  You can readjust in a second, with no fiddling with buckles.  In four colourways this is probably our best selling everyday shoe that can take you from work to drinks with ease.

And just in case you were wondering... why are they called a Mary Jane?

Apparently in 1904, bar shoes became known as Mary Janes when the Brown Shoe Company of Missouri named their bar shoes after the mischievous cartoon character Buster Brown and his sweetheart Mary Jane.

Those shoes are actually pretty cute.  Maybe we should do a Buster!
